With a rich cultural heritage and unique natural site, Pays de la Loire is a wonderful holiday destination.
Part of the region that stretches from the department of Maine-et-Loire to Chalonnes-sur-Loire is a UNESCO World Heritage with the name of Loire Valley. It includes part of the most important castles of the region such Montreuil-Bellay, Montsoreau, Saumur, Brissac, Lude, Bauge, Serrant, du Plessis-Bourre.
Spread over five departments (Loire Atlantique, Maine-et-Loire, Mayenne, Sarthe and Vendée), Pays de la Loire is a land with many intestering aspects.
Visit the emblematic cities of the region like Nantes, the capital, located on the estuary of the Loire, and its castle of the Dukes of Brittany, Angers and its huge fortress, Le Mans and its remarkable heritage that goes from the Roman occupation to the industrial revolution, and Saint Nazaire.
The Loire region hides some masterpieces of religious architecture, like Fontevraud, one of the largest monastic city in Europe, and exceptional cultural heritage which goes from the image of "Chant du Mond" by Jean Lurçat Museum to the Contemporary Tapestry Museum of Angers.
On the Atlantic coast of the region, many seaside towns are located. The most famous beach is certainly La Baule on the Guerande peninsula.
Discover the Coast of Light extending from Noirmoutier to La Tranche-sur-Mer through the Sables d'Olonne, or get on board for a boat trip to Belle-Ile en Mer, Ile d'Yeu and its wild creeks.
The vineyards of the Loire offer a variety of wines such as Muscadet, the wines of Anjou, the wines of the Saumur region that you can enjoy on the itinerary of the Vineyards Road of the Loire Valley.
Do not forget to try "La Loire à Vélo" which offers 800 kilometers of trails to discover fantastic natural spaces.
