Marseille

City of art and culture, Marseille, with its 26 centuries of existence, remains deeply marked by its past and is constantly digging up the remains of all the cities that are superimposed over the centuries. It is a real journey that leads the visitor from its Greek and Roman origins to the modernity of our century and the great architectural achievements of the twenty-first century, through the medieval religious foundations, the fortifications of the sixteenth century, the rich houses of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and many prestigious buildings built in the nineteenth century.

The city is rich in monuments, sites and museums to discover: Notre Dame de la Garde known as " La Bonne Mère " is the symbol of the city of Marseilles: she watches over sailors, fishermen and all Marseilles.

It offers a unique perspective on the city, the Vieux-Port, the quartier du Panier, îles du Frioul and If, Nord de Marseille, the beach neighborhoods and hills surrounding Marseille. Archaeo-logical evidence of Saint Victor back only to the late fifth century. A cult is organized at the site of the present abbey, around a tomb that is venerated and whose tradition once again claims it houses the relics of the Marseilles eponymous martyr of the fourth century.

The archeology museum traces a vast panorama of ancient civilizations around the Mediterranean. It has a rich and varied collection of Egyptian, Classical and Protohistoric. Behind the Town Hall develops the historic heart of the city called "Le Panier". The name comes from the sign of an inn "Le Logis du Panier", located in the seventeenth century.

The town has remarkable monuments such as the Radiant City built by Le Corbusier.
Floating between sky and water, at the entrance of the Vieux-Port le MUCEM, civilizations museum of Europe and the Mediterranean is a patrimonial pole and national intellectual de-voted to world cultures.

The Canebière and its sumptuous cafés, the Corniche or, Prado beaches and the parc of the 26th century make Marseille’s reputation. The Vieux-Port is the old port of Marseille, its heart, a piece of original Lacydon that dragged highest to the Canebière, left uphill by a "horn" located under the current "exchange center" .

Marseille boasts a unique natural heritage composed of creeks.
Between Marseille and Cassis almost 20 km of marked trails, the Calanques are limestone cliffs that plunge into the Mediterranean. This listed site extends over 4000 hectares visited on foot or by boat from Cassis. Magical and mesmerizing Calanques are a paradise for scu-ba diving, climbing, discovery of fauna and flora.
