Unterlinden Museum

In Colmar, on the wine road of Alsace, the Unterlinden Museum is located in a former Dominican convent, built in the thirteenth century. It is without any doubt one of the prides of Colmar.

It has a rich set of sculptures and paintings from the late Middle Ages to the early Renaissance.

There are also some masterpicies by Renoir, Picasso, Léger and Braque. Furthermore the museum is known internationally for its chapel that accommodates one of the most famous masterpieces of painting and the jewel of the Rhenish art: the magnificent Isenheim Altarpiece, painted by Matthias Grünewald (1512 -1516), a master of the late Gothic.

During the renovation of the Museum, that will end in January 2016, the famous altarpiece is on display at the Dominicans, 500 meters away from Colmar museum.

Until the end of the expansion work of the museum, from February 16th to October 18th 2015, the masterpieces of the Museum are on display at the Dominicans, in Place des Dominicains in Colmar.

Opening hours:
From May to October, every day from 9am to 6pm.
From November to April, every day except Tuesday from 9am to 12am and from 2pm to 5pm.
