The "Petite France"

The Petite-France is a historical site of Strasbourg in Alsace. It is located on the Grande Ile (Big Island) of Strasbourg was designated a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1988.

The site got its name from the Hospice of Syphilitic built at the end of the 15th century to welcome the soldiers who came back from the campaign of Italy touched by the syphilis also known as in "French disease".

You can find here numerous timbered houses and the tanners district, of which, the "Maisons des tanneurs, Haderer".
