Galerie Véro-Dodat

The Vero-Dodat gallery is located in the first arrondissement of Paris close to the Louvre. The construction of this cultural relic dates back to1826. Two investors have begun building a passage between the street Bouloi and Jean-Jacques Rousseau Street. Built according to the basic Greco-Roman architecture, its facade reminds ancient times. This communication corridor of 80 meters long and 4 meters wide, is bordered on both sides by shops selling various souvenir items.

The name of this passage was inspired by the names of the two protagonists behind its construction, that is Benedict Vero and Dodat. This relic is a listed building. Despite the agreement of the latter dated to 18 May 1998, its ranking was refused by his condominium. This gallery is famous because it is shortcut to go from a busy street to another. Very quickly after its construction, it was popularized by the presence of several fashion stores spanning on both sides of its length. The Jean-Jacques Rousseau entrance was in the past a bus station, passengers waiting for a stagecoach used to shop in the gallery.
This public way was arranged so as to show visitors the illusion of depth. Built on a length of almost a hundred meters, the graphics of the tiles chosen by architects reinforce this impression. The access points of the gallery are in the form of rounded archways and supported at the sides by two pillars carved stone, just like in Romanesque style cathedrals. The two statues above the entrance from the street Bouloi have made this place a tourist destination.
